Precision gearbox specialist Apex Dynamics has strengthened its UK sales team with a return to the company by former Technical Sales Engineer Malcolm Hillary and the addition of new hire James Coucher as Technical Sales Engineer for the South region and Wales.

He brings with him a wealth of engineering and expertise to the precision servo gearbox specialist, as well as maintenance, critical analysis and technical experience. The company has also welcomed the return of Malcolm Hillary as its Northern Region Sales Manager, who describes the transition as ‘seamless’ and is delighted to be back with Apex Dynamics.

James brings over 20 years of engineering and technical sales skills to Apex Dynamics
James Coucher joined Apex Dynamics in May and hit the ground running by working on the stand at Machine Building North and the annual Apex Dynamics global sales conference in Taiwan within his first month. He brings a strong background in engineering, particularly within the manufacturing, aerospace and industrial sectors, in roles including engineering, installations, technical support and service engineering. Apprentice trained to British standards, James has worked in automation for years, focused on servo solutions, and says he “knows my way around ball screws, gearboxes and servo motors, and how they integrate”.
He adds, “I chose to work for Apex Dynamics because, from the get-go, it has had a really warm, friendly feel. I am grateful to be part of the team and it’s a great opportunity to make an impact, grow and play a role in the company’s future success.
“I spent five days in Taiwan just after joining the company and it’s a really important, impressive manufacturing facility. It’s been quite the whirlwind, but between Taiwan and Machine Building North I got a really good look into the business, how the products are received and the potential Apex Dynamics has for an enormous amount to happen in the future. It’s an exciting company to be part of, with really good products, engineering processes and quality control in place.”
Malcolm says ‘it’s brilliant’ to be back at Apex Dynamics UK
Malcolm Hillary has been back at Apex Dynamics UK as its Northern Region Sales Manager since the start of this year, having previously worked at the company for six years, and has said it’s ‘brilliant’ to be back with the team. He has 35 years of experience in industry, starting as an apprentice marine fitter, followed by technical college, then testing oil rigs and working as a technical sales manager in the linear motor industry before joining Apex Dynamics.
He explains, “The return’s been seamless. I love working in external sales, going to see people and helping to solve their engineering problems. This role combines my passions – technology, talking to people and driving! The camaraderie of the Apex Dynamics team is second to none and I relish the constant face-to-face interaction, going to see customers, building and developing relationships.
“Working with new and existing customers, and winning new orders has been great and I have been making sure I get round everyone to tell them I’m back. I’ve known some companies for 30 plus years. Turnover is going up and it’s a pleasure to go into work every day to tell people about our excellent products.”
Malcolm is busy organising and planning open days for Apex Dynamics UK, where the team brings the products to customers, talking them through its gearbox solutions over refreshments. He says, “It’s like taking the exhibition to our customers and it would be great to hear from any companies that are interested in learning more.”
