CETEX, the all-new Consumer Electronics Test & Development Forum and Expo, invites test and development engineers to RAI in Amsterdam from October 9 to 10, 2024. There, Rohde & Schwarz will exhibit its advanced test and measurement solutions that address the latest emerging challenges in consumer electronics development. Visitors can connect with the company’s experts and explore the latest technologies that help them enhance EMC compliance, debug digital protocols faster, or improve the energy efficiency of their products.
Highlights at the CETEX: the MXO 5 and MXO 5C series oscilloscopes.
Consumer electronics consist of many components, each of which needs to be tested separately during the development phase, when the datasheet is being compiled, or when the product is undergoing certification. Rohde & Schwarz addresses the entire chain with its test solutions covering a variety of applications: from electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI), to energy efficiency (switch mode analysis), to connectivity and IoT requirements (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HDMI, USB4, etc.), to electrical circuitry tests (digital buses). Visitors to the CETEX Forum and Expo can experience selected T&M instruments from Rohde & Schwarz firsthand catering to the needs of consumer electronics engineers.
Next generation oscilloscopes
The next generation MXO 5 and MXO 5C series oscilloscopes, with their unmatched versatility, provide superior time and frequency measurements to consumer electronics test and development engineers. Rohde & Schwarz will showcase both at CETEX, the four- or eight-channel MXO 5 series and the rackmount optimized MXO 5C series without a display. Thanks to the integrated MXO-EP ASICs developed by Rohde & Schwarz, all oscilloscopes offer the industry’s fastest acquisition rate with 4.5 million waveforms/s, highest precision of 12-bit ADC/18-bit HD resolution, a deep memory capture with 500 million points/channel, and highest sensitivity with advanced digital trigger. These features allow engineers to debug their designs more efficiently, making applications like power and signal integrity measurements or logic and bus protocol debugging a breeze.
Power conversion and consumption measurements
At CETEX, Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate power conversion and consumption measurements. When optimizing system performance, characterizing the gate driver signals, especially in multiphase, can be very challenging. The MXO 5 helps engineers make accurate measurements for inverter design. With its eight channels, the instrument provides a direct view of all relevant signal details. For power consumption testing of any battery-operated device, especially IoT equipment with very low sleep currents, Rohde & Schwarz will exhibit the two-quadrant R&S NGU201 source measure unit. Design engineers can use this specialized power supply to simulate real-world battery characteristics.
EMC pre-compliance and inhouse testing
All electronic devices are susceptible to conducted or radiated electromagnetic emissions. To increase the likelihood of passing the formal EMC compliance test, Rohde & Schwarz offers tailored solutions that integrate EMI debugging and testing into the product design process. Visitors can learn from the leader in EMC testing how to use the powerful R&S RTO6 oscilloscope for EMI debugging, or the R&S EPL1000 EMI test receiver for in-house EMC pre-compliance testing.
Component testing
Rohde & Schwarz will showcase its R&S LCX LCR meters with customized impedance measurement functions that are suitable for all discrete passive components up to 10 MHz. Using the R&S LCX sweep software tool, users can even perform sweep measurements displaying numerous charts. The MFIA impedance analyzer from Zurich Instruments AG (a subsidiary since 2021) will also be on display. The MFIA provides impedance analysis for both low and high impedance components and has a measurement mode for quickly tracking impedance changes in devices under test.
Wireless connectivity and Bluetooth testing
Bluetooth® is the dominant technology for short-range, low-power wireless communications in consumer electronics, from earphones and fitness trackers to smart home applications. With the CMW platform, Rohde & Schwarz offers a comprehensive, fully automated test solution for verifying the physical layer functions of Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE) and Bluetooth® Classic including LE audio measurements. At CETEX, the R&S CMW270 wireless connectivity tester, approved by the Bluetooth® SIG, will be on display. Ideal for integrated wireless communications solutions, the tester also covers WLAN 11 a / b / g / n / ac / ax SISO and MIMO signaling tests.
Visitors can find Rohde & Schwarz at the CETEX Forum and Expo at booth 207 of Elicium Hall 13 at the RAI in Amsterdam. In addition, Rohde & Schwarz contributes to the forum’s program with a presentation on advanced test and measurement techniques for emerging challenges in consumer electronics (October 10, 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.).
