Trio presents Motion-PLC range at PPMA Total Show

Engineering Industry News

Trio Motion Technology is presenting its new Motion-PLC controller range at the PPMA Total Show, Hall 5, Stand F114, at Birmingham’s NEC, 23-25 September. Motion-PLC provides advanced motion control performance with the functionality and simplicity of a PLC, reducing machine development time for stand-alone machines.

Visitors at the UK’s biggest show for packaging machinery builders will see the first controllers in the Motion-PLC range, which are now available to order. The MCS 30, the MCS 40, and the MCS 50 Flexible Machine Controllers scale machine and motion requirements up to eight axes over high-speed EtherCAT.

The MCS 40 and MCS 50 feature a multi-tasking operating system optimised to run motion and logic control in parallel. The motion control capability is built on Trio’s Motion-iX motion engine, developed over 30 years of motion specialisation, and includes a variety of pre-programmed motion features for packaging machines. Motion-PLC can be programmed in familiar PLC languages based on the IEC 61131-3 standard, and the controllers also include a PLCopen motion library.

At PPMA Total, Trio will also present its robotics control integration capabilities alongside a SCARA robot. For high-axis count machines, Trio will demonstrate its wider range of Motion Coordinators, including its PC-MCAT-2 PC-based controller. The controllers will be supported by selected products from Trio’s full automation solution, which includes servo drives & motors, I/O systems, and HMI.

“The packaging market is key for Trio as machines integral to the sector rely on high performance motion,” says Trio’s Managing Director, Tom Alexander. “For designers used to developing machines with a PLC, the new Motion-PLC range makes this process much simpler and much faster. The new controller range combines a familiar programming environment alongside high-performance motion functions, which are easy to access, and the result is better performing, more reliable machines.” Packaging machine designers can find out more about Trio’s Motion-PLC here.
